Times of E is going to on summertime schedule starting this week. We’re also working on a pivot. We’re switching to a monthly cadence for June, July and August. If you want to keep in touch in the meantime, reach me at emacbride@timesofe.com. I’m around for speaking engagements about The New Builders, for story pitches and we’ll be publishing interviews and stories at Forbes and Times of E – and potentially a few other places, too.

Here are two poems by Emily Dickinson that seem apropos to the beginning of summer. The season this year has many of us, post-pandemic, mid-turmoil, thinking about what’s important in life. Dickinson wrote her poems on scraps of paper, reminding people to be aware of limits but not confined by them.

A Something In A Summer’s Day

A something in a summer’s Day
As slow her flambeaux burn away

In This Short Life That Only Lasts An Hour

In this short Life that only lasts an hour
How much – how little – is within our power
